RAYMAN LEGENDS is a critically acclaimed XBOX 360, XBOX ONE, PS3, PS4, PC, Wii U, and PSVita title developed by Ubisoft Montpellier.

My tasks included designing and prototyping various game modes, gameplay elements and interesting levels. During my two years on the project, I designed and built more than ten levels and a boss, among other accomplishments such as creating the concept and initial prototype for the competitive multiplayer minigame Kung Foot.

Eventually I was placed in charge of overseeing the production of the unique secret agent themed underwater world: 20,000 Lums Under the Sea. I originally took over for a designer who left after making the initial prototype for shadow and light stealth gameplay, where I expanded into new and interesting prototypes, as well as created gameplay elements that complemented the stealth gameplay and secret agent theme. Once the level briefs were complete, I created half of the world’s levels and oversaw the production of the rest.

I actually spoke at two industry events about the production of the underwater world in RAYMAN LEGENDS and eventually wrote a column on Ubisoft’s UbiBlog about it. This was eventually discovered by Polygon.com who wrote an article about it which you can read here.

For the most part, my job was conducted in the in house engine: the UBIart framework. I also had to partially script and tweak gameplay elements using LUA script and also made use of the framework’s cinematic tool for some of the more complex dynamic events.

RAYMAN LEGENDS received a number of industry awards and currently maintains a 90+ score on Metacritic.
